What is the best way to get crossed trained in MRI if you work at a doctors office as a rt(r)?
I havent been able to find a job anywhere else. |

Cross training refers to being trained on-the-job.
In order to become a certified MRI technologist, the ARRT recognizes two pathways.
1) without an RT (R), you must graduate from an accredited program to become eligible to take the national certification exam.
2) with an RT in good standing, you must complete 53 procedures in 7 categories to become eligible to take the national certification exam. (for more information on clincial experience requirements, see http://arrt.org/publications/2008-handbook-mri-post.pdf)
Even with an RT, you can choose to go back to school. But there's no getting away from the requirement for clinical experience. You'll need to work in MRI and gain documented experience there, or attend school to gain documented experience there.
For a list of accredited MR programs, see the ARRT website here:

Good luck
