Well it's been quit a week, we went from our Toshiba scanner in the main CT department into a mobile quad GE scanner. The transition wasn't very simple. The mobile was two days late arriving at our hospital, and after that it was a smaller unit than expected. The injector included with the mobile had no syringes, so I had to move our injector over to the mobile. We had a travel tech (Mandy), and GE applications specialist(Stephanie) on hand to help us with learning the GE software. Thanks to the both of them for their help!!
Another big pitfall, was the fact we have to take patients outside to the mobile unit. Our maintenance department made us a wheelchair covered in plexiglass to protect the patients from the elements. Thank God, the weather has been pretty decent this past week. We also had to develop a way to get cart patients and in patients onto the mobile, we did manage to develop a technique to solve this problem.
We will spend another week on the mobile, and hopefully the day after Christmas we will be back in the main department, and scanning on our new GE VCT 64.
Will comment on the progess of the mobile, and the new scanner at the end of the week.
