Ok if gastografin does contain iodine, why is protocol not needed, as far as patient questionnaire and bun/creat levels checked??? |

gastrografin does contain iodine, but when you check bun and creatinine levels, that's more for intravenious contrast. the kldneys filter the blood. when iv contrast is given into the blood stream, this goes directly to the kidneys via the arteries and veins. when you drink gastrografin, it pretty much stays in the digestive tract, and doesn't go to the kidneys.
