|
Hey everyone. I am new to the forum and am entering a hospital based program in Detroit, Mi, this July. I am also fortunate to work at the same hospital where I will be doing the program.
Can anyone offer any advice for a first year student? I work 32 to 40 hrs week and I have a wife and a daughter that is entering kindergarten this year.
I know it is going to be rough, and I am prepared to cut back on the work hours if necessary, but I would like to try not to if possible. Anybody else from the Sinai-Grace program that worked similar amount of hours?
Last question...how hard is it to maintain the 85 % GPA throughout program?
Thanks
David |

you will probably have to cut back your hours to like 16-24 it is kind of tough to work a lot and keep up with everything... |

Matt:
first semester you take RAD 101-107, Intro to Rad, Med. Term, Rad Procedures, etc. Can you tell me how that is set up? Do we take different class every day of the week? Will we be doing clinical practicum during the first week or is it all class/book work at first? |

I am not sure if your class will be differnt, but ours was on Monday, Wed, Friday we would have class from like 8-4 on average, then on tuesday, and thursday we had clinicals all day 730-4. I can't remember if we went to clinicals our very first week, i think we did, but i am not sure... its a tough program... consumes a lot of time. and when you guys start we have clinicals monday, wed, friday and class on tuesday and thursday. while you guys are on your clinicals. |

hmmm, well I am going to start out working around 32 hrs a wk and see how it goes...being a transporter i will have a lot of downtime at night where i can do my homework so hopefully that helps.
did you have trouble grasping a lot of the concepts? A lot of the techs i have talked to have told me that there will come a moment when it all seems to suddenly "click". Have you experienced this yet?
being 2nd yr, are you working as a student tech? Did you have the opportunity to if not? |
