Oh my goodness! I'm soo excited! When I was a student I had one years training using film, and the last year I spent doing clinicals with the DR PACS system. After I graduated, I went to work for a small rural community hospital in Montana, and I just learned that we recieved a $500,000 grant to purchase the PACS system! We were the only hospital in the state of MT to recieve a grant, and I am just soooo pumped because I love PACS! It is amazing the benifits it has to the entire radiology dept. and to the patients. I just had to share the news with ya'll! Thanks for listening to my rambling! Very Happy

Great news... be sure that you practice good radiation protection techniques. Many people overexpose patients when switching to a digital radiography system.

I completely understand what you are saying and agree 110%!!!! I had a talk with a friend who is also a radiologist and we were discussing how sloppy the new students were getting with their techniques. When I was a senior student I made sure to push the point of good and precise techniquing even with the "room to error" compensating factors that PACS offers. Patient protection is SOOOOO important! Thanks for your word of advice though! Very Happy

PACS is great! You'll love it! It's amazing really, to see what you can do with it. It's hectic in the beginning, when they are making "the switch", but just remember, it's only going to make your life easier when it's finished. It's well worth it. Have fun! Very Happy

not sure if the DR is a very good system. There are several other more robust solutions to choose from: Sectra, Amicus, Stentor, etc..

There's a list on www.rtstudents.com of PACS and Digital Radiology websites.

There are many PACS systems out there. Some big one are Kodak CareStream 10, Stentor ImageCast, GE Radwork, Fuji Synap.
Some other PACS are Siemens ImageStore, Agfa Impax, Mckesson Workstation.
