All of PCC's allied health programs are based on GPA and an interview. The school offers the following programs...
Registered Nurse
Radiologic Technologist
Cath Lab Technician
Ultrasound Technologist
Respiratory Therapist
Occupational Therapy Assistant
Physical Therapy Assistant
Emergency Medical Technician
Health Information Management
The RT program accepts 20 students a year and classes begin in January. The program use to go by rolling admissions, but the list stretched to 5 years, so they went back to the interview process. The prerequisites are...
Medical Terminology
Basic Anatomy and Physiology
Intermediate Algebra
These classes must be completed, and an application submitted by August to be eligible for consideration for the following January. Completion of the program earns you a 2 year Associates degree, so there are other non-radiographic classes that must be taken either prior to entering the program, or as co-requisites. With the course load and clinicals, it's highly recommended to take them prior to beginning the program.

Starting in September at FHCHS. Havent gone to school in a long time, been an Intl investigator for 8 years and since getting married need to do something that keeps me home. Less money but would rather stay local and close to the family. I am 36 so prob the oldest guy going to RT school but really looking forward to it and taking a break for the 2 years.
Good luck to you. |

Kevin, I love your excitment, b/c that is how I feel! My first semester will be up next week. I take my final then. We have only taken Radiation Protection so far and I have done pretty good. I got a 100% on my quiz, my 2 tests I got a 89 & a 92, and a 98% on my midterm. I already handed in my essay (did you have to do an essay on radiation protection?) I do not know my grade on that yet, and like I said my final is next week....Then we have a 2 WEEK BREAK {{{{{Yay}}}}} And we start up full-time WITH clinicals Aug.18. We already got our uniformed scrubs in and we order our lead markers Thursday, which I cannot wait to get here b/c we are going to have a few lab demonstrations! Keep me posted on your progress and good luck! |

TheXrayGourmet...
Glad to hear you're enjoying your program and doing so well in it. Yes, I had to do an essay, but not on radiation protection. We did other projects as well...the instructors keep us busy, that's for sure.
I'm on my last break now, I start my final semester this month. It will be clinicals and a seminar course that will take us through the last 2 year's worth of knowledge to prepare us for the registry exam.
Jimmynuetron...
Best of luck to you in your program. If it's anything like ours, it won't be a 2 year break though...I can't wait until all I have to do is work again. _________________ <JESUS>< |

If you are the oldest guy, then I must be the oldest girl, 36 with two kids. I'm still finishing up my prereqs, holding a 4.0 for now. I'll be starting the RAD program in Jan 2010, seems so far away and I should be retiring at that point, lol. The past two semesters have flown buy so I know it will go by pretty fast. Good luck to you and have fun with that 2-year break, lol. I'm with Kevin, I'm only taking prereqs but I'm already thinking it will be nice to just work when it's all said and done. |

Well I just wanted ya to know that there are alot of us in this age range going back to school. Good Luck |
