Our hospital recently assigned angio nurses to cover MRI. I was monitoring a patient who seemed to have a rhythm of bigeminy with every other beat being electrical mechanical dissociation. When that portion of the scan was over, the rhythm converted to normal sinus. I understand that the radiofrequency waves and magnetic manipulation can cause artifact on EKG, but can these influences cause physiologic abnormalities?
