does your facility have overtime on a regular basis?

For the RTs - I'm curious if your facility routinely has overtime opportunities available?

I've worked at two hospitals in my career. One would literally run seriously understaffed to the point of patient safety being affected in lieu of posting overtime for vacations, illness, etc. The other had OT available almost every week to maintain proper staffing levels. The difference was simply the bean counters.

I'm curious what the norm is nationwide.

Our facility has a no overtime policy but if it was necessary to provide basic coverage they allow it.

Overtime not normal, but sick or vacation sometimes provides OT. No policy against it.

I've worked for my present employer for 34 years, and it always seems we're in a financial crisis. We had OT for the 1st 15 years I worked, but over the past 19 years its been a year by year situation, right now NO OT!!
