I completed my first year in radiography school here in New Jersey. I passed all my classes including the clinicals but I failed Exposure 2 class in which I got a 73.3. In my school you need to get at least a 75 or better. As you can see I was very close. The Program Director of the school said I can't take clinical this summer and she is only giving me two classes to take in the Fall 2009 which is an online course and a class called Biotech Review which is an elective. I also can't do clinical in the fall as well. This doesn't seem fair to me. There are least two classes which I think I can take. One is Physics for Radiographers and the other is Radiographic Procedures III.

Does anybody have any advise for me on this ? My parents are spending thousands of dollars on this program and it seems I am being punished because I failed one class but I was very close.

Thank You

You are lucky. In our program you are out if you get below a 75 on anything. No probation, no remedies, just plain out.

Fair?

Honey, if you're exposing patients to ionizing radiation, "close" will not cut it.

The reality is, you failed a class. As the other poster said, there are plenty of programs which would kick you out. Instead of whining because you're not getting what you want, be grateful you get another chance.

Providing patient care is not like manufacturing widgets. If you do this with the right attitude, you can succeed (and learn something in the process). If you're going to focus on "fair", you might want to think about a career outside of healthcare.

I am curious if you would think it was fair to not get your license because you received a 73.3 on your boards?

I agree with hjh "Close don't cut it"
