I have had recurring chest pain for about a year. I have been through many tests and they all have come back normal. I have had one doctor diagnose me with costochondritis based on a bone scan. The bone scan showed uptake in the cartilage that connects my ribs to the sternum. I have had cortisone shots in my chest and they have not done any good. I am scheduled to have a CT scan of my chest next week. My question is can a CT scan show any inflammation of the cartilage in my chest. I was told that a CT scan should show any inflammation of the cartilage and thats why I am having it done. I need a difinitive diagnosis of costochondritis to help me mentally, and I am hoping that the CT scan will prove of dissprove that I have costochondritis. Any information that could be provided would be great. I really don't want to have the test done if it is not going to help diagnose the costochondritis, due to the cost of the procedure.

Thanks,

Heath
