|
Hey,
A local Community College just started a CT certificate program. The coursework is all done online (with a few in class meetings a semester), and clinicals 3 days a week. It is approximately 30 weeks, and at the end, students will be eligible to sit for the registry.
Someone told me a while back that at some point, everyone who is a CT tech will need to have a certificate by a certain timeframe. Is this accurate?
Is it worth going through the program to get this certificiate, or would I be better off just cross-training and studying for the registry on my own? I think I would prefer to do the program so that I can have the strongest knowledge base possible.
Thanks! |

well, at some point everybody in ct will need to be registered in ct, not necesarily have a certificate. the classes aren't necessary, but i personally think that they are a good idea.
when most people "cross-train" into ct, they get the training on how and when to push the buttons for that particular facility. whereas if you were to take the classes and get a certificate, you'd get more of a wide spectrum of knoledge that people don't really think about. personally, this is actually better a better way to go. there are things on the boards (formulas, filters, etc.) that are discussed in the classroom, that nobody uses in the clinical setting.
it's similar to x-ray. nobody actively thinks about the formulas and chemicals once you start really shooting. however, you still have to know it. _________________
