i'm a bit confused between the BEAM HARDENING ARTIFACT and STREAK ARTEFACT.

I understand that beam hardening causes artifact which appears as dark bands or streaks...especially in the posterior fossa of CT head.

so, is the beam hardening artefact & strek artifact the same thing, but with different names or are they actually 2 different type of artifacts?

if they are different, could someone please explain to me what is STREAK ARTIFACT.

please help me out with this. my prac report is due on Friday. Sad

beam hardening is due to hardening of the beam. Which is due to the radiation is not able to pass through a region and gives energy to that region. Thus the detector thinks that region is high density and produces a streak.
But a streak can occur due to motion as well.
