|
well, here i am, the only registered CT tech in the office with the big guns GE 64 slice. now, 4 - 5 tech want me to cross train them into CT.
now, i've assisted with cross training a couple of people, but they've had some sort of CT training (i.e. some sort of exposure to CT). these people haven't even seen the 2-slice scanner in the other office. i'm kind of at a loss as to where to start with the cross training.
i've thought about teaching venipuncture first (something that they've done before for IVP's), but they haven't done IVP's in the office for at least 10 years.
so, basically, i've got to start from scratch with everybody. is there some *ahem* FREE material online that i can use to teach about CT? i've gotten the exam guide from ARRT, and i've started to type up something that goes along with that, but that's a whole lot of information, and my head already hurts from making the first 10 pages.
any help is much appreciated

p.s. - no i don't have my books that i used to study for my CT boards. i never kept them from my CT classes back in 2001 (man, am i really that old?) _________________

I'm also trying to find a simple explanation of Standard Deviation, Noise, and Uniformity. Being a registered CT Technologist, I know what they are, but explaining it to people is becoming more difficult than I thought.
thanks!

We recently developed a cross-training program at our facility. In our attempt to have people actually LEARN CT, rather than just learn how to push the buttons, we required them to complete an approved cross-sectional anatomy course at a local college. And, we also required them to purchase (on their own) the MIC CT Cross-Trainer course. It's a decent course and gives the cross-trainee the didactics needed. The "clinical" stuff they learn from other registered CT techs in the department. We schedule them with a CT tech for approximately 3 months, with a review every 30 days, and require that they get their ARRT within 1 year. We've cross-trained 2 CT techs in the past year using this method and it's worked out great.
