while i agree with you hj, clothes do make the person....
i know i feel more profesional when i have my white coat on. (the one with the buttons in the front at least. the one with the buckles in the back itches a lot). personally, if i feel profesional, i'll act more profesional.
but again, like hj said - check about the uniforms. the only lab coat we were allowed to wear was this short jacket thing. our uniforms had white pants, a baby blue button up shirt, and a navy tie. we put our "lab coats" on and we felt like we were going to hand out ice cream. i actually had a patient say "i scream for ice cream!!" god was that embarasing.....

All students have to do their time sticking out like a sore thumb.
We wore yelllow (yes, YELLOW) two piece uniforms. Pale yellow pinstripes, uniform shoes (no clogs in those days). And we were NEVER allowed to wear scrubs unless working in the OR.
'Course I never worked anywhere that we could wear scrubs outside the OR until the early 90's. I still prefer uniforms. |

lol at the ice cream story. but anyway at my school, well all schools i know down here, the scrubs are a most at all times even in school. mine arent that bad, their like a dark red color. but i was asking because one of my teachers recommended the lab coat and i was just checking for some other opinions. oh i have another question, what do you guys keep your l and r markers in? i hope thats not a stupid question lol, because i seen a lot of different people have then in different ways. like i saw this one guy and he cut out a small square size piece of film and put double sided tape on the markers and thats how he kept them, so any ideas...... |

29 years later, my markers are STILL kept on a square piece of film. Unfortunately, actual film may be in short supply (my current facility is all digital). One guy I worked with in the '80's had a workshop in his garagae - he created a thin, plexiglas thing to keep them on, but it looked kind of heavy to me.

oh, &*$# wher'd they go..... i've been doing CT for so long .....
......wait, here they are, in the drawer of the scanner. nice place for them ....
i know sometimes i'll stick them directly to the tube if i know i'll be in that room all day. that way, they're always within reach.
