The ARRT sets the guidelines for CEU's and will randomly audit you to be sure you're fulfilling your obligation. The ASRT is a wonderful organization for information and most importantly for me, to obtain my CEU's with ease. Just fill out the tests online or by mail and they'll keep track for you...of course nothing in life is free and you must pay a fee to join.

The ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) is our regulatory agency. As such, it sets standards. In their misssion statement on their website, it clearly states:

"Adopts and upholds standards for educational preparation for entry into the profession; Adopts and upholds standards of professional behavior consistent with the level of responsibility required by professional practice;
Develops and administers examinations which assess the knowledge and skills underlying the intelligent performance of the tasks typically required by professional practice in the modality."

The ASRT (American Society of Radiologic Technologists) is a professional society, membership is not mandatory. If you read their mission statement (About ASRT), it states:

"The mission of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists is to foster the professional growth of radiologic technologists by expanding knowledge through education, research and analysis; promoting exceptional leadership and service; and developing the radiologic technology community through shared ethics and values."
