After you've been an RT for a while, you can consider going on to become an RRA. I wouldn't bother with RPA, the ACR prefers the RRA position. You will need your BS to even get into RRA school, you'll end up with a Masters degree, and it's definately an advanced level of practice. Many of the RPAs didn't bother to get their BS and now are having a hard time trying to switch. _________________ Anna Roentgen Reincarnated |

I'm not sure where you got your information, but that's not correct.
Here's a quote from VCU's Program webpage - http://www.sahp.vcu.edu/radsci/programs/raprogram.htm
"Eligibility/Entrance Requirements
The program is open to bright, motivated, mature, and highly competent ARRT certified radiographers who hold an Associate degree or higher (or who meet program prerequisites). Please note that RA applicants must have a minimum of 2 years experience at the time they enter the program. "
They're quite clear that students who are ARRT and already hold a BS/BA will graduate their program with a certificate. Students who are ARRT and hold an AS/AA will gradute with a BS.
For a listing of accredited programs, see the ARRT listing here:

i think u are on the right track in thinking about becoming a Radiology Assistant. It seems like the RT field is becoming saturated and in the end, jobs will most likely go to those that can offer more to their employer. |
