It sounds to me as if both schools are privately run, for profit. I read an article recently that stated these types of schools have an average nationwide cost of $31,000. I agree with CTDave, my two years only cost me $480 BUT that was before there was anything but hospital programs.

As per the links Dave posted earlier - neither school lists fees of $34,000/year.

Apollo (which looks to be a for-profit) is $18,00/year for a 2-year total of $36,000.

Gateway (which is a standard community college) runs a LOT less at $2,600/year for a 2-year total of $5,200.

Above is the cost of a technical college in WNC.
In 1977, I paid $1,000/24 months of x-ray school.
The school I attended is still in SC. Its rates are
$3,400 (resident) $6,664 (non resident).

Check this web site out. It has all the prices of higher education for the
US, US Territories and Canada that are all accredited.

For profit schools or private schools as I found out in MD 30 yrs ago
were out of my league and my parents. A private college for nursing school
in 1972 cost $10,000 for 4 yrs. which included housing. My father nearly
had heart failure Laughing (and I would be under more pressure to pass). Razz

As a prior clincal instructor for Gateway Community College, I can truley say that hjhogle post is the most accurate. As for my recomendations in the Phoenix Metro area. I would place Gateway first, then Pima then Apollo.
Unforturnatly everyone else in the valley agrees since there is a 2-3 year waiting list to get into Gateways program. I know this personally since my daughter has been waiting that long to get in.

My suggestion to anyone having questions about a potential school. Is go to that school directly and ask them open and up front questions.

1. cost
2. are they accredited
3. grautation rate
4. rate of graduate that actually past the boards
5. Do they provide jobs placement help
6. Attrition rate
7. Number of sturdents accepted each year
8. Clnical sites, how many and do I get a choice of where I do my clinicals?
9. What type of degree do I graduate with? Associates. certificate, Registered Technologist, or Limited Licensure Technican?
This could go on and on

All schools should have no problem with giving you in writing most of these requests. Good Luck and let me know if I can be of help again.
