I remember I took the ACE fitness trainer exam twice and didn't pass it so I went after a different certification and obtained that one.
Now what if I fork over $20,000-25,000 and two years of my life to RT training and find myself unable to pass the state or the ARRT exam at the end? Does this happen to many? What do you do if this happens to you? I think Nuke Tech and Rad Therapist is even more difficult but I may be wrong. I'm 39 and tired of turning over new leaves.
A friend of mine in Miami took the state test twice and passed the 2d time. He just said study, study, study....thanks for your remarks. |

The ARRT certifcation exam is not a state exam. It is a national certification exam.
Many states require that you already have valid ARRT certification in order to obtain a state license ... but they're apples an oranges.
If you do not pass the national exam 3 times, you will not be allowed to pursue a 4th attempt without returning to school and enduring an entire additional program of study. After the 2 try, you're required to provide documentation of remediation, that kind of thing. You can find this inforrmation on the ARRT website, here:

Good luck

Most states accept the ARRT as reciprocity.. If you pass that the State will just take your money. Theonly time you have to take the State exam is if you are going for a limited license or do not have the ARRT exam. |

You need to pass the ARRT exam first, and as Pete stated "Most states accept the ARRT as reciprocity..." I not sure about Florida.
There are many study aids to help you pass the ARRT exam. I don't know where you attended school, but for the money you spent, your instructors should have helped you find the study material. You need to study, and find all the resources that you can to help pass the ARRT exam.

Hey Dave,
I saw you mentioned the money Jebby16 spent or would spend at his school, I was considering attending Emory's school of medicine, and their Medical Imaging program is a 3 1/2 year bachelor's at about $24k a year. Is that not a smart move to make financially? They are a hospital and apparently a very reputable school compared to Gwinnett Technical College which is just a two year college that offers a associates degree in Radiology tech, but their tuition is almost free after the hope scholarship (no more than a couple thou a year if that).
please help. _________________ J.O. |
