Congraulations, ouldcottk!
If you've been hanging out here for a year, then you're aware of some of the better (and some of the not so much) reasons to choose this profession. And still you chose it.
You're also already aware of the some of the challenges faced by students and RT's. And still you chose it.
WELCOME. We're glad to have you and I'm sure you'll meet up with some of us along the road.
Good luck,
hjh, RT |

Thank you!
Yes, I find all the advice, and insight is important to be aware of.
The last 2+ years of my life have been dedicated to beating the odds and getting into this school. As with most Rad programs, acceptance is very competitive (15 out of 150).
I will certainly be the oldest in the class (47). I also have a very unique and varied work experience and background. I am an internationally recognized anatomy sculptor and portrait painter among other things. Being this is a career change, I attended college for the first time in the past 2 years, and gave it my all-(4.0 GPA, hospital shadowing, volunteer work, admission essay and incredible letters of recommendations from my professors, vast employment experience caring for people, etc.).
Sorry, I may sound like I am someone that is conceded and has a cocky attitude.
I am actually the total opposite, and SO SCARED. I know how intense the program will be, and I am not use to the academic challenge prior to the past two years so I have to
try to believe in myself.
But, I am extremely determined and motivated to reach my goal to become a radiographer.
I am thankful for this forum as it offers support along my journey and a glimpse into the medical imaging community.
Thank you hjh for your support! |
