How long will it take to become the x ray specialist?
( if that’s what the job’s name is called)
I have more to ask but can’t remeber.
I got spine X Ray about 2 months ago as my work requirement. Now I apply for extra job and they asked me to take chest X Ray. I am kind like worried, is that fine to take chest X Ray even though I just got spine X Ray 2 months ago?
I live in Conroe TX and don’t know of any ultrasound school around here. Any suggestions are appreciated. =)
Lots of biology science and math clases.
I want to transfer to a medical school for Radiography, but I haven’t taken any related courses in the past. Which course do you recommened taking so that when I send my transcript to schools, they’ll consider me?
I am having trouble passing one of three tests that I need to take to graduate from ultrasound school. I need to pass this test so I can sit for the boards to recieve my license. My teacher is not a very understanding person and can be very difficult to deal with. Does anyone have any advice?
When thinking about entering an ultrasound program, you need not be concerned so much about certificate vs. degree. What is important is that you go to an ACCREDITED program, whether it is college or hospital based. An accredited program allows you to take your registry (licensing) exams upon graduation. Once you get licensed, you will never be asked about your schooling again. An employer does not care what route you take to get licensed, they just want you to have that license.
Don’t waste your time or money on a NON-accredited program. Upon completion and graduation from a NON-accredited program, you must work in the field of sonography for a full year prior to taking your licensing examinations. But, you will have a hard time finding an employer to hire you, unless you are licensed.
I would suggest you observe an imaging department to get an idea of what ultrasonographers do daily. There is much more to it than scanning pregnant women. Most people have no idea how much is involved in this career!
You can find a list of accredited schools in your area, by searching “diagnostic medical sonography” and your state at the following site. There are links provided for each program, which will give you additional information (including course duration):http://www.caahep.org/Find_An_Accredited…
There are programs in Troy, Brooklyn (2), NYC, Dix Hills and Rochester. (I don’t know if any of these others are near NYC, as I am in California, and don’t know my geography well enough!). The programs in NJ are located in Newark, Sewell, Plainfield, Paramus and Iselin.
Many people, myself included, go to school to become a radiologic technologist, before continuing to ultrasound school. In fact, it can be difficult to get into u/s school without the RT license. There are many more choices for schools for x-ray in most states. You can find them here, by searching “radiography“ and your state:http://www.jrcert.org/cert/Search.jsp
The American Society of Radiologic Technologists just did a large salary survey. You can see how much a RT and/or ultrasound technologist averaged, per year, in your state here:https://www.asrt.org/media/pdf/research/…
I have graduated, passed the ARRT board. Apply more than 15 times to several places and still can’t get an interview. If I knew this happen, I would never be in RT program.
Will I need to be extra good in math, chemistry or science? Those aren’t exactly my strong points but I’m interested in becoming a rad tech to take x-rays. It seems like there would be a lot of variety and opportunity in this field.
It is asked in the Baylor University @ Dallas to provide prior health related (radiology) job experience to apply for the radiology program there. I’m not sure if I want to apply for that one, or one at Midwestern State University, or the one at Brookhaven of the Dallas Community College System. About 6 months is recommended and I have never worked in the health field. I don’t plan on applying in those programs until about 1.5 to 2 years from now, so I have plenty of time to look over my options. But since I am considering them, I want to know what would be a good way to get my foot through the door in that health field. I have seen people in scrubs at school, and I always that that in order to get a job at a hospital or clinic you have to first be certified. I’m wondering what I should attempt to do. There is a local hosp. in 15 miles.
Right now, I’m a full-time college student @ Navarro, a local community college majored in Pre-Med.
Any help or advice is appreciated, Thanks.
