Anyone Know Of A Mri Certificate Program Near Toledo, Ohio Or Northern Florida?

February 2nd, 2010 Radiology Jobs 1 comment

I’m almost finished with my radiologic technology schooling from an accredited program and I’m looking for somewhere to receive a MRI certificate. Is there really that many out there, or is it mostly on the job training? I’m going into radiation therapy in a few years, but would like to have the ability to work in the MRI field in the mean time. I’m looking for locations near Toledo, Ohio and Pensacola, Florida. Any help is appreciated, I can’t find anything specific in google searches where it just brings up x-ray tech schools. Thanks!

MRI Program

November 17th, 2009 Radiology Jobs No comments

THE Magnetic Resonance Imaging has been a breakthrough in the medical world. Unlike the old x-rays which used radiation, MRI creates the exact same images but using radio waves and magnets. So it is regarded as being safer and has been a revolution in the medical world. A MRI Technologist – like most in the medical profession – has to be compassionate as they are dealing with critically ill people for many years of their careers. So that will form an important part of the 12 month course.
The program at the Gunwick Academy of Medical Arts will teach students how to carry out clinical MRI examinations. You will be working with top porfessionals who will guide you all the way to, hopefully, graduating at the end of the course. The stipulations to qualify for the course are quite rigid – but that is to be expected in all aspects of the medical professional. However, the hard work you put in will be rewarded if you are accepted on the MRI Program. That’s because annual earnings of a MRI Techs range from around $36,000 at the lower end and up to nearly $67,000 at the higher end of the scale. So the hard work will pay off!
Applicants need to have a high school degree and a minimum of AA or a AS degree. A copy of this will be required upon application. Upon applying with a non refundable $75 fee, potential MRI students will be interviewed by a councillor and the Program director. You will also have to pass a written Test, of course you must achieve a score of 29. This is a test in basic English skills and maths ability. Fees are not cheap as they are £24,600. But you will be receiving top medical teaching five days a week. But student loans are available to cover the cost of this. If you are accepted onto the course the objective is to enable students to pass the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and American registry of Magnetic Resonance Imagining Technologists examinations.
Although the Gunwick Academy of Medical Arts can never guarantee employment at the end of the course for their students, all help will be given to find placements. But with many hopsitals in need of good, qualified MRI Techs then the chances are high you will receive employment after leaving them. Good luck in your application. You will be taking the first step towards a fulfilling exciting career

What Does It Mean To Get An Associates As A Rad Tech? The Program I Am Applying To Is A 23 Month Program…?

and you end up with a certificate. I was told by the school that I can then go on to get my associates. What does that mean exactly? I mean I will have already put in almost two years.
I also have some general studies finished at a university. (psychology, sociology, English 104 and English 210,philosophy, biology, anatomy and physiology, and college level algebra).
Would getting the associates make a difference in salary?
