I’m almost finished with my radiologic technology schooling from an accredited program and I’m looking for somewhere to receive a MRI certificate. Is there really that many out there, or is it mostly on the job training? I’m going into radiation therapy in a few years, but would like to have the ability to work in the MRI field in the mean time. I’m looking for locations near Toledo, Ohio and Pensacola, Florida. Any help is appreciated, I can’t find anything specific in google searches where it just brings up x-ray tech schools. Thanks!
In general, MRI techs usually go to school for radiologic technology first, then cross-train in MRI.
Ultrasound schools:
College of DuPage – Glen Ellyn, IL
John A. Logan College – Carterville, IL
Northwestern Memorial Hospital – Chicago, IL
Rush University – Chicago, IL
South Suburban College – South Holland, IL
Southern Illinois University – Carbondale, IL
I believe there to be know such thing. You have to go to school for Radiology Technology first and get licensed in Radiography. At least that is how it is in MN. MRI is something that you are crossed train into. That is how I had to do it. I also looked for schools, and none existed. There might be one or two now out in the western states, but I am highly doubtful.

They are an employment agency. If it’s working directly with them, it depends because each branch is a franchise, I believe.
Chain staffing agencies tend to have stricter quotas on calls made, candidates interviewed, etc.
Are you sure it’s a direct position with MRI and not a job they want to place you in?
I’m interested in getting some insight from actual MRI technicians. Are there many job openings, what is daily work like, is it boring or stressful, is it competitive, is there any safety hazards, how is pay for your area, are there night shifts? I appreciate any useful, honest information about this career field.
I have been looking into how to become an ultrasound technician. I can’t seem to find any schools that offer ultrasound/radiology programs in my area. (I went to the college search things once I ran out of ideas and they say certain schools offer programs, but when I go to check out the school, they don’t…)
So, does anyone know of any schools in the Philadelphia, PA or Delaware County, PA area that offer ultrasound tech programs?
Thanks!!
I’m thinking of going to school for Radiography. After two years, how much can I expect to be earning? What are the pluses and minuses? How hard is school?
