Hello I hope you can help me if you are reading this. I got a tuition waiver from my state Unemployment office so that I can go to school for any one-year or less program that gives a certification at the end. I cant go for a degree or any thing like that, this is only for programs that focuses specifically on one subject and getting a person certified in that subject such as MRI Technician, Secretary, etc. So please do not suggest carreers that you need a degree, i wont be getting a degree only a certification, It is similar to if you go to a trade school for automotive tech, etc only the unemployment will not cover a trade school.

My problem is I have a criminal felony record and all my 3 convictions was in the past 18 months, the most recent one was only 4 mos ago so I cant say “it was as long time ago I am a differnet person now.” And it makes a employer paranoid of hiring me. I hope that if I go to school and get a education that it will give me a better chance at getting work.

I have no idea the class that I should take with my tuition voucher, though. I need to pick a career that would not care if I got a record or not. If i go for the wrong thing It will be pointless becuz I will get the certificate and still not be able to work becuz the employer wont hire me b/c my record. I need to find a list of some good careers for felons to work in, where background checks is uncommon, or they dont consider it a big deal if you are a felon. I know that the construction industry and restaurant industry is good for this but there is not 1 year certificate programs offered by the school that I can go to. I know that I am banned from the medical field, but I dont know the other type of jobs that refuse people with records. If you could suggest to me any career field you know of that is good for Felons and dont care about criminal background please make some suggestions to me.

Also if you have any ideas of who i could contact to ask this to please reply. I called a college counselor and they did not really know a good field for me to enter. Even if you dont know a good career for a felon , if you do know a good person or orginazation I could talk to, to find out , that would also be helpful too. Thank you in advance.

Hey, I’m doing some research about Prypiat and the effects of radiation on humans for my story. My story’s about Prypiat and I have a couple of questions about the accident in Cherynobyl and its effects on Prypiat.

1) I heard there were some people who actually stayed, is this a fact or just a myth? Was it just people from Prypiat or Chernobyl? approximately how many stayed behind?

2) Were there people that had been left behind on purpose or for some safety reasons other than the ones that refused to leave?

3) Can exposure to radiation cause someone to subside into a long or at least short coma?

4) What are the known effects of radiation on the residents of both Prypiat and Chernobyl?

5) And about the liquidators, how long was it before they were sent to clean the place up? was it just on chernobyl or were they sent to other contaminated places as well?

6) Where did they send the evacuees during the evacuation?

7) How long did the evacuation take?
Other than prypiat, what..
(continuation)

…other places were affected by the fallout?

9) Were people allowed in with some sort of special documents?

10) If there were people who stayed or went back for some reason, how long did they last?
Did any of them survive?

11) And last but not the least. Were Geiger counters widely distributed or sold after the accident? If so, how long did to take before the geiger counters started to decrease, if they did?
I almost forgot.

12) If people had stayed behind, how was their lifestyle? How did it go? Did they live like everything was in order?
I found some helpful details on my first question. Some people in the “Zone of Alienation” were reported to have stayed, they were called Samosely (self-settlers), they were people who refused to leave and denied any negative effects on their health due to the radiation. I don’t know if that includes Russia though.

1. What is the minimum time I have to wait before I take the test? Is there one? I would like to take it as soon as possible. I’ll take it next week if I can.

2. Can you get a job with a GED? I need to get a part time job, I don’t care where. Will employers hire people with GEDs or do they look down on that? I’m talking jobs like McDonalds and Wal-Mart here.

3. Can you get into trade school with a GED? It is my goal to become an MRI technician, which my grandfather informs me takes two years in a trade school. Will such schools accept GED graduates?

I did a lot of looking around on the internet about Australia and you Aussies and there is one word I could describe about your country…… Wonderful beyond my mind and eyes! I did always want to go to Australia but now more than ever I want to cross the great ocean to put my bare feet on your beautiful beaches. But as I did more research about your country I came back down from the clouds and realize there is always a cost to do this goal.
I have trouble to decide on what career I should major into, and decide to try Radiology or X-ray technician they say here in US; as a try since being a vet technician won’t really get me far an especially in Australia. And the reason I why I have chose this since I have always been fastidious of bones and the stories behind the fracture. Anyway the reason why I chose this because I know there is a demand for medical every where and this will open my widow way more. And of course I will gain few years of experience in the field since they require skilled immigrants with a bachelors or higher, I pray I reach that high. And the prices there are beyond livable, can people really afford this? But do I as well will survive the place?
But what I am thinking to myself will I be able to make it to Australia, also able to afford the cost? Or ever get a visa, or even getting a job there as a radiologist.

Please answer my questions and please no links I want answer from you!

I was diagnosed with seizure disorder when i was 20, i am now 24. I had my first seizure when i was about 15 a grand mal and then i had 2 more after that, the last one being when i was 17. I had testing done at 20 so i could get my license and the EEG was inconclusive however the MRI was normal. They just diagnosed me with “seizure disorder” and i had to follow up every 6 months. I have never been on medication but i haven’t had a seizure since i was 17 (at least not a grand mal or that i know of). Do i still have seizure disorder?

I’m currently a sophomore in a traditional university at Florida Gulf Coast University. I’m a psychology major. Up until a few weeks ago, I was sure this is what I wanted to do. Now I don’t. I really want to work full-time and become some kind of technician online, I’ve been looking at Ultrasound technicians and Radiology technicians, and veterinary technicians. All three of these careers have online degrees available. I live in Naples, FL. My questions are:

1. Which online school is reputable that most employers hold in high regard?
2. At the end of this year, I will have 58 credit hours, will these count towards online programs?
3. If you are currently or have already pursued an online degree – what was your experience & with which school? Did it allow you to easily get a job?

Any suggestions are helpful.

PS (don’t have to read this) Also, I am going to schedule an appointment with my academic adviser, but I’m afraid the person will be biased. And I’ve thought my decision over a lot. The only school near me with a grad program in psychology offers only one in counseling with a K salary locally – with a masters, that is too low. I have prior commitments to this area that I am not willing to sacrifice to move for this career.

Thanks everybody!

A little over a year ago I got into a pretty bad car accident. My car was totaled(windshield cracked, front end ripped off) (a guy and his friends with no license, registered vehicle or insurance hit me when I had a green light). Well I didn’t go in the ambulance that night because I felt fine and thought it would be unnecessary, but on the ride home my neck started to hurt. So my parents took me to the ER just to be safe. They put me in a brace, took a CAT scan. The next day I went to a chiropractor that I would be seeing for the next year and 10 days(as of tonight). After Xrays, I was told to have had bulging discs in my neck and back. I never really knew all of the specifics but was told I should get an MRI if my insurance would cover it a while ago. It started with chiropractic adjustments 3 times a week, then 3 times and massage, then 2 and massage, then my insurance stopped paying. (no more massages, but he still adjusted me). I had a very busy schedule as it was my senior year and I was involved in countless activities(I would sometimes have to leave school at lunch for appointments) so I did have some gaps in my care, like if I couldn’t go to an appointment, then I didn’t have another one set up. I know that caused a problem, but started regularly again, and just recently massages again. I kind of started to live with all of the pain. Until recently, I’ve been in as much pain as I was when I first got into the accident. I finally stood up and confronted my chiropractor at one of my re-exams and told him how I couldn’t stand for 30 minutes doing the dishes without back pain, constant neck and head aches and how I was constantly miserable from the pain, sometimes in tears. I was told I should have been healed after about 6-8 weeks. and here I am over 50 weeks later always in pain. I feel like a 60 year-old and I’m only 17. What am I supposed to do? The treatments help somewhat, but not well enough to keep me out of pain and I can’t stand the thought of living like this for the rest of my life. I don’t want surgery because only 51% of back surgery is effective and that’s a bit extreme for a 17-year old’s back pains, I think. Also, I don’t want to be bed ridden in pain for hours at a time before the age of 25. I just don’t know what to do, but the pain is driving me crazy. Any suggestions would be great.
Thank you all so much, my chiropractor is a part of a network of doctors that do non-surgical spinal decompression, but it’s ,000 and I can’t swing that going to a private university. I didn’t know that an inversion table would do the same thing. I usually take ibuprofen and it doesn’t work, and I took aleve last night and it did help. I will look into the other options and I’m planning on getting an MRI to make sure it is just a bulging disc and I’ll speak with my doctor about the other options. Thank you all once again. You can’t believe how relieving it is to know there are other options.

I just got a STAND UP MRI done today. It took about 20 mins. The technician said I did an awesome job and that I didn’t really move much even though I was trembling and very nervous. I’m claustrophobic. I couldn’t do the closed or open MRI. They said the results should be in by Monday. But I’m so anxious to know. I’m afraid they will tell me I’ll be living in a hospice soon and that i’, dying. I have to see the neuro on Wednesday so i know that the results should be in by then. It hasn’t been diagnosed yet but I am too much of a hypochondriac and I try to be rational about things but I just can’t help it. I’m supposed to be going to psych tomorrow. I don’t really like to take any medications because I’m afraid of side effects. I don’t want to have 1 thing and then mess up the other. So I avoid meds at all cost unless I’m really like dying. Like these headaches I’ve been having constantly.

I had a ct scan done about a month ago because my headaches were just so intense. The ER department said I shouldn’t be worrying about anything. There was no tumor, no bleeding, no injuries. I’m scared that after this MRI they’ll see something they might have missed.

Hypochondria is messing up my life. Just 2 days ago I thought my dog had rabies because he had foam in his mouth. But he’s still eating and drinking water after all his walks. Dogs with rabies foaming at the mouth usually die within days and they are very aggressive and i guess they lose their appetite. his mouth mostly froths when we go outside. He loves going outside and gets toooo excited! but he has never been bitten by another dog or has contact with other dogs he is very shy we’re working on that. but I assumed that because his mouth was frothing he had rabies and that i had it too and that explained my headaches and all the problems i’ve been having.

SIGH. I’m just trying to relax. maybe tomorrow I can tell the psychiatrist. I don’t really want to take any anti-anxiety medication. but i need help. I can’t be afraid forever. and all this just started after I started working at a hospital and had to quit because I thought I’d get everything my patients had and thats why they enforced precautions. I’m always thinking everything is a conspiracy. I need a shrink.

I’m guessing it’s a young adult fiction as I read it in my high school library. It is not recently published, I believe it was from the 70′s or 80′s.

It is written in journal form, about a woman’s life before and after she finds she is dying from cancer. The woman is pregnant in the beginning of the story and has a boyfriend she met at a picnic, but he is not the father of that child. I remember a line in the book saying something like “she never felt as connected to (her boyfriend and child) as being a family, as when she slept with the boyfriend while pregnant”. I can’t recall if she marries the boyfriend b/c they were against marriage or something much to the chagrin of her family, but I believe he adopted her daughter as the father was out of the picture. When she discovers she has cancer she undergoes chemo/ radiation therapy and is chastised by a nurse when she unknowingly tries to breast feed her daughter. A young woman neighbor ends up helping out with the baby and housekeeping when the narrator is too weak to do so. And the book ends with entries about how the narrator knows the neighbor is sleeping with her boyfriend, but she doesn’t care b/c she has grown to accept she is dying and believes the neighbor would be a suitable replacement for her as a wife to her boyfriend and mother to her daughter.

i wanted to reread this again while in highschool but the school library underwent a renovation and everything was re-arranged making it harder for me to locate it (i knew the original location of it but not the title). it’s been bugging me on and off ever since as it was a good book….plus it irks me i can’t recall the title.

Also another thing I’m scared of is if I can make it through school! Like I said I have decent grades and have alot of science background. My weakest point is math though : / But I’m willing to work hard. It is really what I want to do, but I am so nervous about getting accepted! I know there are probably many people applying that are straight A students but I’m hoping my previous experience will make up for it, what do you think? By the way, I’m applying at a hospital based program (you still get an Associate’s degree), is that harder to get in than a college? My area doesn’t even have a college program!
