What are some of the skills and qualities that I should stress in the essay? If you are a sonography technician. what made you become one and what do you enjoy about the work?
Following is a typical ad for a hospital seeking the services of a sonography technician, note the emphasis on communication skills. You will be working with doctors, patients and other skilled personnel day in and day out, so your ability to interact with them is very important.
Qualifications:
Graduate of recognized training program of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent.
(RDMS); Minimum of one year of clinical ultrasound experience;
Registered or Registry Eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS);
Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology; ability to recognize subtle differences
between healthy and pathological areas; Ability to maintain harmonious and effective relationship
with patients and personnel; Ability to adequately use department’s computerized systems.
Description:
Full-time (40 hours) and part-time (30 hours) positions available, days with rotation to evenings.
Responsible for the operation of the Ultrasound diagnostic equipment and performance of all
dynamic procedures in the Radiology based Ultrasound department performing Abdominal and Vascular studies.
Occasionally may perform light routine office duties.
