Contact lenses are 100% okay. We wouldn't even ask about them; however you will be required to remove all metal objects so try not to wear lots of jewelry. Nothing like credit cards, id cards, cell phones or any electronic should enter the scan room. The magnet is always on and can damage those things. You will be given a locker prior to the exam to put things in for safe keeping. Don't worry if you having any questions ask the technologist they will be happy to answer them for you.

If the MRI is of your brain, ask them. Otherwise, it's not a problem. :)

No, you only have remove things that are metal or magnetic for an MRI because the imaging process uses a magnetic field.

Just don't wear anything metal.
For example, if you had been working with iron filings that day and, without realising it, had a small piece of an iron filing in your eye, when you go into an MRI machine the magnetic field would attract the iron filing and could cause it to burrow through parts of your eye and eyelid out towards the scanner. This is why you cannot have an MRI if you've recently been working with any material like this. Plastic is not affected in this way and so contacts are completely safe.

Radiologists are doctors, so you need to go to medical school after undergrad. Medical school is expensive. I say go to the cheapest school (when taking into account scholarship money) you can get into, and make sure you take the physics, chemistry, and biology required. Rutgers probably?

They aren't suppose to. They legally aren't allowed to but people do it all the time. Especially if you are on a military base. I simple told the tec I wouldn't sue her if she was wrong and that I'd be happy either way, and she went ahead and printed mine

I only got pics of the gender when we went to one of those elective ultrasound facilities where you pay for like the 3D images. The tech from my actual doctor's office didn't give us any gender shots, but she didn't give any reason about liabilities or anything.

With my son, the tech printed a gender pic and typed "I'm a boy" with an arrow pointing to his penis. This was at cleveland clinic. I've never heard of that being a liability but its hard telling these days. Sometimes they print a lot of pics for the dr to review...you can ask your dr if there is one were you can see the gender and ask to have a copy. Hope this helps. Good luck and congratulations! :)

That's weird. I have never heard of printing ultrasound photo's being a liability for gender. My OB did all my ultrasounds and printed off pictures for me showing my son's gender and feet, and everything. When I was at the hospital the nurses printed me photo's too and so did the specialist I went to for my GDM. Nobody can really sue a hospital for telling the wrong gender, all she would have to say was it's a girl, here is the picture but keep in mind it may not be 100%. She just sounds paranoid to me.
