1. My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer a little over a year ago and it has been quite an experience. We have had to call an ambulance twice, she had two major surgeries, been told she doesn’t have a lot of time twice, she spent Jan. 8 to mid March in the hospitals, medicines interacting to cause hallucinations (temporary) and jerking (permanent). Now they are saying that her chemo is not working anymore and that they are looking for trials. To make it worse she has to get a biopsy to see if it has spread because she got a CAT scan and some new masses appeared in her uterus. The one good thing is that we have health insurance that pays for everything after you pay 00 so the bills are not racking up Still the whole thing sucks. At school I used to talk to my guidance counselor about all of it and he always made me feel better but unlike last summer he did not tell me to email him so I am on my own and I always knew he helped but I didn’t know it was this much. I would kill to talk to him.
2. It is my job to cook and clean and take care of my mom. My sister is 31 and still lives at home because she is learning disabled and can’t get a job that pays enough for her to live in a place she wants to live, but she does have the money to buy a new laptop and iPhone (ugh). My brother Andrew is 27 and just bought his first house and Chris is 20 and is home from college. He works most of the time at my dad’s work. We have our moments. Taking care of my mom is not that bad any more. Last summer she was really sick, but now she just sleeps a lot and sometimes gets really depressed so then I just try to get her to leave the house which usually makes her feel better. I clean the house and then make dinner and often dessert. This year they started paying me to clean which is nice because I am not allowed to get a job but I don’t feel like they appreciate it still. Yesterday my dad came home and said “I love you for cleaning” and that is exactly what concerns me. He never says he loves me. Then I didn’t make dinner that night and my brother came home and said “What happened to you making dinner” and complained for the rest of the night. I don’t understand why every meal they have must be hot and prepared for them. Are they incapable of making themselves a sandwich. I feel like they are way nicer to my brother despite the fact that he does nothing to contribute to our family. I cook, I clean, I take out the trash, mow the lawn and take care of my mom and I get . My brother gets cubs tickets right by third base, and a furnished apartment. I was signed up to go to do the Rocky Mountain Challenge but my mom canceled it saying it was too dangerous. When I was in third grade my mom got sick (not cancer) and I cooked and cleaned and took care of her from 5th-9th grade. Things were good sophomore year until she got cancer. I feel like that is all I have done my whole life. I feel like I don’t have any really great experiences for my childhood and this is my last real summer and I thought this camp thing could be the beginning of something that could be for the rest of my life. I go to a bouldering gym all the time and I love it. Right after my mom told me she canceled it I told her all of this and my parents just got mad and said that I have more than my brother because I have a car and that is true but the thing is he had one too. My parents went out and bought me a used pt cruiser and my brother inherited my mom’s old car which was loaded. We are spoiled brats.
3. I would love to go to Loyola and I think I will get in because I am in the top 5% of my class and coach Special Olympics bocce ball and gold. Just yesterday I got a call from Roosevelt University and they talked to my mom. They are offering me a full scholarship with room and board. My dad and brother said that it was the community college of Chicago and doesn’t count for much but neither one of them got a full scholarship anywhere so they shouldn’t complain.

Thanks in advance for any help.
I am thinking about going to Thailand for about 5 months with the hopes of getting a job there. I have a contact in tennis there, and lots of tennis experience. I may take a course so I can teach English in another country after. I am chosing Thailand because I think it is cheap, and Ive always wanted to go there. I should have about 7-8 thousand dollars not including my 1000 dollar plane tik.
My questions are
1. Can I get health insurance while Im there? If so, will it cover all? Cat scan,MRI whats involved, physical etc.
2. Am I allowed to stay for that long? How long does it takr to get tourist visa, and how do I do it?
3. Is there a course like CELTA I can take so that if I dont get a tennis job in Thailand, I can get a job teaching English in Taiwan or S korea or somewhere that pays better than Thailand?
4. Where would be a good place to set myself up?
How much money would my expenses be?
5. Will there be people who play a high level of tennis I could play with?
This is one of those once in a lifetime opportunities, and I just need more info. Thanks for any help !!!!

My mom broke her foot two weeks ago tomorrow. She got a cat scan done last Friday and it said that her heel is supposedly crushed. They say she can’t walk on it for another 2 months (she’ll be on crutches) and then after the 2 months i guess she can only put wait on it for like an hour. I guess what I am asking is, is there a way her foot can heal better? My mom has a job to get back to in Wisconsin, and she really needs to get up there. Any rememdies or something that could help it heal faster? Please, please help! Thanks!
She has a job in Wisconsin, she’s a bar manager and she’s always on her feet.

I’m currently employed by a hospital, which has a radiology tech program. It’s two straight years, no B.S. (Like having to take philosophy classes as a prerequisite). I’m strongly considering this program as after I do the two years there, I’ll be a licensed x- ray tech. To become an MRI tech (what I want to do), I’d need to spend an additional year in school. I wholeheartedly believe that radiology will come to play an unimaginably large role in the medical field. As it is, many, many patients are sent for x- rays, MRI’s and CAT scans. As new technology is developed, the medical field will only become more dependent on these types of tests. X- ray techs make around k- k a year, while MRI and CAT techs make around k- k a year in my area. There’s nearly a 100% success rate of our hospital’s radiology tech students getting jobs almost immediately out of school. I’d wind up with k in student loans.

I’m also very interested in becoming a chiropractor. I like working with patients, I like working with my hands and as a chiropractor, I could run my own practice, meaning I’d set my own hours, be in my own environment and my fiance would be able to work with me. I’d call all the shots, plus I would get to spend time with my patients. I’m not sure exactly how much chiropractors make, but I’ve read k- k on the norm, more if they have a lot of patients and their own practice. I’d wind up with student loans in the six- figure range, however. It would most likely wind up at around 0k that I owed, and there’s no guarantee that I’d find a job. After about 2 years of prerequisites (I have my math and English classes out of the way, I just need science classes now), it would be another 3 1/2 straight years of difficult schooling. I don’t have money to start a practice, so I’d likely have to work together with someone, like an acupuncturist.

I’m more interested in the idea of becoming a chiropractor, but a radiology tech would be more practical. I’d be 29 when I finished and became an MRI tech, and I’ll be 32 by the time I finish as a chiropractor.

Which should I go with? Advice and input would be greatly appreciated, especially from people in either field. Thank you all in advance.
I don’t know what you guys are talking about when you call them “quacks”. I’ve seen one 3 times now and haven’t had a headache since. I went to him for back pain. He never mentioned anything about relieving headaches, nor did I ever read or hear anything about this type of treatment for headaches. I noticed it though. After my first treatment, I noticed it as I used to get at least 2- 3 headaches per week. I called it to his attention the next time I saw him (2 weeks later) and he said that’s not uncommon.

For example:
Let’s take an oncologist for example (someone who studies cancer). What stops an engineer from making a scanner that allows someone to simply scan the area of a person’s skin where the “affected area” is. And the scanner will search through the database checking to see if the rash is benign or malignant. After all, that is all what an oncologist does. He uses his BRAIN to identify the rash and diagnose correctly. What stops an engineer from putting what he learned in a book and and at a school about oncology (and of course, the engineer would have to know oncology to do this) in a machine. Do you get what i am saying? Won’t the job on oncologists and many other professions be out of work in the future? Isn’t engineering where its all at?

And im not talking about a CAT scan or MRI. I’m talking about a handheld scanner that can scan a part, or the whole body if someone wished. it would check the database and diagnose it. There would be no need to oncologists. And if a new cancer came out, the device would simply be updated.
denise, obviously someone would have to be holding the object. Either the patient or professional, but what im saying is, people don’t have to go through all these years of studying medicine because of this device. It can be mass marketed to individuals. Sold in stores. People could buy this thing in Wal-mart. With instructions and everything.

In 1993 my mother had a mammogram. Clean and clear, In 1994 while taking a shower she noticed a lump. Upon examination and further testing, a radical mastectomy of both breasts was deemed necessary, followed by chemo and radiation.

After 8 months of living hell, the diagnosis was, clean and clear.
Late 1995, Hard painful spots near original surgery. Diagnosis? Scar tissue.
Early 1996, Extreme pain leads to 2nd opinion. Diagnosis? Cancer in lymph nodes
Radical surgery for 2nd time, followed by chemo and radiation
Late 1996 Diagnosis? Clean and Clear
Sept. 1997 Body scan at University of KY, Oncology center. Clean and clear
Dec. 1997 Extreme headaches lead to x-rays, then new CAT scan.
7 tumors found in Brain. Not detected at UK, cause? The scan was ONLY from the shoulders down.
Jan 1998, Radiation and chemo, Hair falls out for 4th time. Surgery not an option

April 17 we buried Mom. Causes of death? Failure time and time again on the part of people of ‘ Science’, using the most modern technology, to find something they all were trained by ‘science’ to look for.

Some may say, ‘why did your god kill your mom’? If you are one of those, you miss the point. God never said to her, you have years to live or that you will never have problems. What he did say was, that no matter what, he would never leave her, nor forsake her and some of her last words reflected the peace that came from those words.

No, Science failed, along with a lot of highly trained, very well-paid scientist, who failed to perform their job up to standards. So why did science kill my mother?

Aniexty is taking over my life, basically. And I’m only 18. I shouldn’t be going through half the things I go through, or think about half the things I think about.

It all started when I started a full course work o f college classes last month. On top of that i’m going through fire school and emt school. Which is for four months three days a week at night and all day saturday. I have no job, or main source of income anymore to keep my self happy with.

One Saturday evening my head started to hurt and my right side went numb. Being the health care professional I plan to be, I thought of the worse.
We went to the hospital, and they took a cat scan and everything was a-okay. No tumors, masses, or blood clots.

With that reassurance they let me out and I went home.

Ever since than I haven’t been the same. I can’t concentrate, I still get the headaches.. and my sides go numb from time to time. My tounge feels swolllen and it feels like i can’t swallow anything but i still have my appetite.. I keep on thinking I still have something seriously wrong with me when all my test came back postivie and the Cat scan was clear. I feel like crying for no reason sometimes, and i’m just not the same person I was before I started doing all my college classes

On February 8th I was stopped at a red light when a car slammed in the rear end of my car. My head went into the dash and whipped back. Besides for being shook up I had felt okay. After the accident the lady was completely apologetic and gave me her insurance info. I went straight home after the accident and had a bad headache.

I went to sleep and woke up in horrible pain. A few days before the accident 3 people at my job were fired and we were all told that if we weren’t at work on time and ready to work then we would be let go as well because we were being watched. I gained from the termination and got a promotion. I was in serious pain but with this being only the second day in my position I didn’t want to miss any time because I was in fear of losing my job. I went ahead and went in to work and really couldn’t do much. I work at a Boys and Girls Club working with 5-12 year old kids and it involves a lot of activity and interaction with them. We can never be caught sitting down so I did my very best to perform. I couldn’t play any games and just monitored as well as possible.

When I was off of work I was sitting at my desk almost in tears of pain. A parent seen me and asked what was wrong and I told her about the accident and she pleaded with me to go to the E.R. and I did. My brother went to a co-workers house while my fiance took me there. We had no one to watch my 4 year old son so he went with us. We got to the hospital around 10pm. I was taken back and was waiting in the room and was put into a neck brace and laid in the hospital bed for around 2 hours before I was given a cat scan and x-rays. My son was scared when they took me away for the scans and started to cry. I was taken back to my room and later was told I had a severe case of whiplash and I was suffering from neck and back sprain/strain. I was given pain medicine and muscle relaxer. I was told if the headaches continue I should come back and the same with my neck/back pain. They told me to take time off if needed to get plenty of rest. I was given discharge papers and we went home. The hospital bill is ,356.56

The next day the insurance company came and looked at my car and priced damages at ,100. I was in too much pain so my fiance went and talked to them.

Since then I’ve still been suffering from constant headaches, lower back pain and neck pain. I haven’t been able to take time off. I’ve always been the type to just deal with pain so I continue to do so even though I feel that I should go get looked at. It’s just that I’m 24. My mom just died on Halloween and I take care of my 14 year old brother.

I don’t know if you understand but last thing I want is him worrying about me. The night I told him I was going to the hospital he was so worried about me. I didn’t want him to know what hospital I was going to because it’s were we last seen our mom. It’s just me and him. Our father died when he was 8.

I didn’t and continue not take any days off because I have to work to support him and myself and my son. I hear I can get reimbursed when I settle the claim but it’s hard telling that to bill collectors and property managers.

Things have got worse between me and my fiance. She has supported me and has taken time off from night school but now she’s upset because she’s failing classes because of missed and failed tests because she’s taking care of me and hasn’t been able to make class or practice for the tests.

I’m not trying to make this too personal but she’s upset because I haven’t been able to give her the love and attention that she needs and deserves that she’s been accustomed to receiving from me. We have a 1.5 month old son and she’s been dealing with a lot. She’s been taking my brother to school for me, taking me to work, then going to work herself, then picking me up, cooking, cleaning, taking care of our 1.5 month old son and our 4 year old son. I try to help but anything other than laying down hurts and is so uncomfortable.

She understands why I go to work because I have to provide for us but I put so much into myself for those hours at work that when I’m off I’m so tired and in pain that all I can do is lay down. I try to keep my 4 year old occupied by having him in the bed with me while watching superhero cartoons but it only helps so much.

A big part of this post is also that she the kids and left to stay at her parents house because she just couldn’t take it anymore. She got her grades and was very upset over them. She tries to remember it’s not my fault I was in an accident but like it affects my life, it affects her.

I just simply made the time to go back to the hospital or doctor’s office besides the one time. I haven’t even attempted to get my car fixed.

People tell me to go back to get looked at first but I simply just can’t. I haven
