Cat Scan Advice Please?
I’m having a cat scan tomorrow at nine. They gave me two enormous bottles of Barium. Will it affect my body? Will it make me crap my pants or something? I’m really scared. My Mom is expecting me to return to school afterwards and I’m afraid something really bad would happen if you know what I mean. lol. PLEASE help me!
It will not make you go in your pants. You must drink it because if you don’t, your scan will be pointless as the radiologist and doctor will not get a good view of what they may want to see. You don’t want to do it again, do you?
You really need to stay home the rest of the day, since your stomach will probably feel very full and uncomfortable. Also, that stuff needs time to pass through you and you will definitely spend a bit of time in the bathroom because of it. Drink PLENTY of water after.
The barium will allow the technicians to better view and contrast the scan pics.
The barium itself is a chalky type liquid, and there’s quite a lot of it to drink. However, there are no unpleasant side effects. You’ll find that your stools may be light in color, but nothing embarrassingly bad.
It won’t really affect your body that much
a cat scan is basically a really big x-ray
It has not been proven that av rays affect people but it is said.
Unless you have gotten a lot of x-rays lately it should not harm you

Trust me it’s not bad.
I’m 15 and I got one last year, and the needle hurts but it isn’t that scary or anything.
