Any available ultrasound jobs?

I recently graduated from an ultrasound program and i am desperate for a job. I graduated in October and its now December..I haven’t felt so desperate for something in a very long time. I’m not desperate in a sense of money, I’m desperate because i really want to work with the field i went to school for, it’s my passion. I just want to get my hands on a transducer. I live in Orlando FL and i’m looking for anything up to an hour from here!!! Please help if anybody knows of anything!!!

What you need to do is get state certified. There are some in this career that went to college and they go before the state and take a test to become certified. This means that they are qualified in all phases of this career. The difference is the people who need and use ultrasound know that the state certified is indeed qualified to perform the work and even read the results of a test. Those coming out of a school there is no way to know just how qualified they are.
My daughter is in this career and makes top dollar due to the state certification .It is a hard test and takes the better part of a day but this is the way to a good job.

I have nothing against these schools but my daughter went to college and got her degree and busted her butt to get state qualified and has never been without work.I wish you the best and hope this might explain why you are having a time finding work.

You might try a local health clinic or every town has a hospital that caters to the poor. You may even check with doctors that cater to pregnant women, they always want to see there child.Good Luck and I hope this helps

    Are you a registered sonographer?

Honestly, 2 months is not that long & it’s really not that uncommon. Many graduates are on the hunt for 6 months before they get hired.

I understand what you mean though, I’m sure it’s frustrating to graduate and have this skill set that you want to put to use. Just be patient and keep putting resumes out! Also, check with your sono. instructors to see if they know of any openings.

Hopefully you are registered with the ARDMS, otherwise you will have a hard time.BTW- there is not such a thing as “state certified” as mentioned in a previous answer. If you can afford to, try applying for jobs and offering to “work” for ,say,1 month as a volunteer or student to get your foot in the door. You would be able to keep up your skills and get to know the hospital and staff , so should there be an opening then you should be a shoe-in. Not ideal, but an idea.
